This Privacy Policy explains what information Convella ("we", "us", or "our") processes when you use the Convella mobile application and related services (the "App"), why we process it, and the choices you have.
Our privacy promise
Convella is built to help you improve your English, not to build an advertising profile about you.
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not use your information for advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not include your name, email address, audio, transcripts, prompts, or message content in product analytics or crash reports.
- We process account and learning information only when it is needed to provide features, services, and improve the App experience.
The App does need some account-linked information to provide features such as sign-in, personalized lessons, progress history, speaking practice, and subscriptions. The sections below explain this in detail.
Information we process
Information needed to provide Convella
To provide features and services in the App, we process limited information that you provide or create while using the App. This may include account details, profile answers and preferences such as your language and voice choices, learning activity and progress, content you submit through text or speech, and subscription status.
We use this information only to operate and personalize Convella, authenticate and protect your account, provide requested learning features, preserve your progress, manage access to paid features, and respond to support requests. When you use a voice feature, the App accesses your microphone only while that feature is active, and recordings may be stored with your conversation history. We do not receive or store your payment-card details.
Analytics, performance, and crash information
We collect limited technical information to understand whether the App works properly and to find problems. This may include:
- App features or screens used and whether an action succeeded;
- App version, device model (e.g., iPhone 15, iPhone 16 Pro), operating-system version (e.g., iOS 26.0), language and region, screen characteristics, and accessibility settings;
- App launch and performance measurements; and
- Crash reports, error codes, and technical logs.
This information does not include your name, email address, audio, transcripts, prompts, message content, support messages, or request and response bodies. A random internal account identifier may be attached to technical events so we can distinguish events, investigate repeated failures, and reset collection when you sign out or delete your account. It is not used to identify you outside the App.
You can turn product analytics off at any time in You tab → Analytics → Share Analytics. Turning it off stops future product-usage events and resets the analytics identity on your device. Crash and essential diagnostic reporting remain active because they help us keep the App secure and stable.
How and why we use information
We use information only to:
- Provide, maintain, and personalize the App;
- Authenticate accounts and keep them secure;
- Deliver speech recognition, conversation, translation, feedback, and other requested learning features;
- Save progress and make it available across devices;
- Manage subscriptions and access to paid features;
- Diagnose crashes, measure reliability, and improve performance and usability;
- Respond to support or feedback you send us;
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you to provide the App, our legitimate interests in securing and improving the App, your consent where we ask for it, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
How information is disclosed
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for targeted advertising, or allow companies that help operate the App to use it for their own advertising. We disclose only the information needed to operate the App. This may include disclosure to companies that process information on our behalf, when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to this Policy and applicable law. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use safeguards intended to protect it during international transfers.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your app-generated information while your account is active and only for as long as needed to provide features in the App. Technical analytics and diagnostics are kept under limited retention schedules and are deleted or aggregated when no longer needed to understand usage, investigate problems, maintain security, or meet legal obligations.
You can delete your account from within the App. Once confirmed, we sign you out and schedule permanent deletion of your account and its linked information, content, stored audio, and App-held data. Deletion is processed securely in the background and may take a reasonable period. Information that has been irreversibly anonymized or aggregated may remain. We may also retain the minimum information required by law, to resolve disputes, or to protect against fraud and security threats, and only for as long as necessary.
Deleting the App does not delete your account. Use the in-App account-deletion control or contact us at the email below.
Your rights and choices
Access: If you wish to receive a copy of the personal information we have about you in connection with the App (i.e., your email or preferences), you may email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, account-based data separation, data minimization, and monitoring for security and reliability issues. While no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, we strive to use industry-standard technologies and best practices.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the App, our practices, or applicable law changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, when appropriate, provide a more prominent notice in the App before a material change takes effect.
